Train laden with migrants barrels towards US border as they ignore 'do not come' warning

Illegal immigrants have continued to cross the US-Mexican border as astonishing footage shows hundreds crammed onboard a freight train.
The locomotive was seen leaving the central Mexican city of Zacatecas as it embarked on the 750-mile journey towards America.
Buoyant migrants were whistling and cheering as the group hitched a ride to the border.
Many onboard the train were preparing themselves for a long journey by putting up tents.
It would seem migrants have not been dissuaded by Vice President Kamala Harris' call in June.
She told Guatemalan migrants: “Do not come. Do not come.
“The United States will continue to enforce our laws and secure our borders.”
Footage of migrants celebrating the journey comes as almost 184,000 people crossed into the US in July, up from 144,000 in June.

PADespite a recent month-on-month increase, the figures are below the more than 200,000 who crossed over the same period in 2021 and 2022.
A record-breaking 2,378,944 migrants crossed the southwest border during the last fiscal year.
However, there have already been 1,973,092 during 2023 through to July.
Most migrant encounters (64.9 per cent) are single adults.

But 600,000 are individuals in a family unit, as the number of unaccompanied minors stands at 109,298.
Border states have borne the brunt of the over-spill of migrants from Mexico.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott argues the Lone Star State has been particularly impacted as he demands “sanctuary cities” share the burden.
He said on social media: “Texas has bused over 35,000 migrants to self-declared sanctuary cities.
“Over 11,300 to DC, over 13,300 to NYC, over 6,700 to Chicago, over 2,600 to Philadelphia, over 1,000 to Denver, over 480 to LA.”
